Bio

My name is Ismail El Omari, 32 years old, I’m from Morocco and I am a young architect and town councilor in Agadir, Morocco. Since childhood, I’ve been captivated by space exploration, shuttle flights, aerospace, and aeronautics. In recent years, I’ve delved into the intriguing field of space architecture, and every day is a new immersion in this captivating world! Designing habitats in Earth orbit, on the Moon, on Mars, and beyond, I believe this is the new frontier of architecture and design.

Academic Background

As for the academic background, I am an Architect, having graduated from the National School of Architecture in Rabat in 2016. Additionally, I completed a Master’s degree in African Resilient and Sustainable Cities at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in 2020. In 2022, I made history as the first Moroccan and African architect to participate in the inaugural international workshop dedicated to Space Architecture at the International Space University in Strasbourg. Moreover, in 2024, I had the privilege to partake in the first Analog Astronaut mission of the Astroland Interplanetary Agency in Spain. During this mission, our focus was on studying Martian habitats and how they can enhance the mental and physical well-being of astronauts.

Professional Interests

In terms of professional interests, my primary goal is to enable my country to integrate into international space programs through Moroccan expertise in space architecture! To achieve this, I founded the Moroccan Association for Space Studies, aimed at democratizing access to the world of space exploration for children and youth in my city and country. In pursuit of this objective, we have launched two programs: the Astrokids program and the Space.Ark program. Personally, my aspiration is to be part of the first cohort of Moroccan astronauts and to advance the field of space architecture in the global space industry!
