Profile
Name | Pierre Vuaillet |
Nationality | Canada, France |
Bio | My Name is Pierre. My first name betrays my French and Canadian origins. This dual heritage has provided me with a personal, academic, and professional journey rich in the beautiful international experiences that have shaped my path today. I am an engineer, a painter, and a photographer. And all these aspirations converge towards a central theme in my life: environmental protection. I illustrate or capture the beauty of our environments on canvases or in photographs and I strive to analyze, understand, and provide solutions to terrestrial environmental challenges. And tomorrow, I hope, in space. Since 2008, I have worked as an environmental engineer on a wide range of environmental topics, primarily focused on three aspects: mining projects, infrastructure projects, and natural site projects. I have also gained international experience, having worked in various countries, including Canada, Spain, the United States, France, India, New Caledonia, and the United Kingdom. |
Academic Background | I have developed my skills in environmental engineering through my academic and professional journey. I earned my Master of Science in Water Management from the University of Cranfield, in the United Kingdom, in 2008, as well as a diploma in geosciences engineering from the LaSalle Polytechnic Institute in France the same year. In addition of my professionnal experiences, I have been committed to continuing my academic journey by taking several courses on subject such as biodiversity, space mission design, environmental international standards, etc. |
Professional Interests | I am keenly aware of the environmental impacts associated with space activities. I wish to deepen my understanding of these issues and develop strategies to mitigate their effects, ensuring that space exploration is conducted responsibly and sustainably. My aspiration is to contribute to initiatives that examine the environmental consequences of operations both on Earth and in outer space, promoting peaceful and enduring exploration efforts. In parallel with my environmental pursuits, I am also interested in the integration of art within space exploration. I aim to explore how the absence of gravity affects traditional artistic techniques such as painting and sculpture. This project hopes to enrich the cultural dimensions of space missions and provide creative outlets that support mental well-being and stress management during long-duration spaceflights. Through this artistic venture, I seek to offer innovative solutions that enhance the life and work of astronauts in the unique environment of space. |
